Glen Abbey Golf Club - Oakville, Ontario

Glen Abbey is one of Canada's finest courses, located in Oakville, Ontario about 25 miles from downtown Toronto. Tee times: 1-800-276-9542, Linkline: 1-800-273-5113.

Follow up:

Glen Abbey has been the site of the Canadian Open on a regular basis -- most recently in 2004 when Mike Weir narrowly lost to Vijay Singh.

While owned by Clublink (a membership based organization that owns and operates close to 30 private courses in Canada) the Abbey is a public course with a restricted membership drawn from the Clublink memberhsip base (at least for 2005). In other words, anybody can play Glen Abbey, if you are prepared to shell out the $200+ cad going rate for tee times. I suspect that most non-ClubLink members play the Abbey as guests of members, or as part of corporate tournaments held there on a regular basis.

Glen Abbey is an outstanding course in a beautiful setting. It was Jack Nicklaus' first major design and construction project. And it has recently been made longer and tougher. In 2004 it ranked as the 4th most difficult course on the PGA tour.

The Glen Abbey complex is also home to the RCGA offices, the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame, and the Clublink Academy, a year-round indoor practice and teaching facility.
