Scars - What Occurs when our Skin is Wounded?

A scar is a mark left on the skin after a wound. Wounds that affect your skin will result in some degree of scarring. Scarring is a result of the normal curative process of our skin and the aspect of a scar depends on depth, size and location of the injury.

How does scarring occur and how can we aid our skin to remove scars?

As stated in the introduction, scarring is the normal curative process of a wound. The skin is left with a scar when the thicker and deeper layers of the skin (the dermis) are damaged. The seriousness of the scar will depend on the severity of the wound.

Any time our skin gets injured by, for example an acne infection or a cut, various cells come to the rescue. This is the body’s own way of protecting itself from harm. It is a complex curative process that usually causes scarring.

The process starts with the constriction of blood vessels which create clots to minimize blood loss. A scab or crust will form over the top of the wound. This will work as a shielding barrier against foreign substances, protecting the body whilst fixing the problem.

To fix the damage, the body has to lay down new collagen fibers; a naturally occurring protein which is synthesized by the body. Collagen is a tough, fiber-like protein that makes up most of the scar tissue. In scar tissue, collagen fibers are more abundant and more randomly arranged.

This mechanism results in a fortuna scar which is the most common type of scarring. It is signaled by the body’s reaction of laying new collagen fibers over the wound. The body can not exactly re-build the tissue causing the new scar tissue to have a different appearance and texture than the surrounding healthy skin tissue. Scar tissue is commonly of minor functional quality and less resistant to ultraviolet radiation. It is also an area were sweat glands and hair follicles are difficult to find.

Remove Scars with a Microdermabrasion Cream

Skin affected by wounds will of course be affected by the consequences. That is why it is recommended that you use a treatment balm to avoid possible scar formation. Other occurrences that should be treated to avoid scar tissue might include surgical procedures, cuts, accident and/or acne scars. A microdermabrasion product that includes skin renewal activators and soft physical abrasives will efficiently eliminate tough and rough scars.

Scars are an inevitable consequence of a wound. Our body makes an effort heal wounds, but sometimes it’s difficult to avoid severe scar formation. The best recommendation is to use a microdermabrasion solution to aid the skin to correctly eliminate scars.

Scars can now be safely removed thanks to BIO SKIN EXFOL, a biological skin care product that embodies one of the best remedial ingredients that Mother Nature can offer.
